# 気候の転換点とは何か

気候変動の話で、最近よく出てくる言葉に「転換点」があります。

転換点とは、ある限界を超えたときに、元に戻すことが非常に難しくなる変化のことです。

少しずつ悪くなるのではなく、ある段階から急激に変化が進む可能性があるため、世界の科学者が強く警戒しています。

一つひとつは小さくても、業界全体で積み重なれば、大きな社会的価値になります。

A climate tipping point refers to a critical threshold where environmental changes become extremely difficult to reverse. Instead of worsening gradually, some changes may accelerate rapidly once a certain limit is exceeded, which is why scientists around the world are increasingly concerned.

Examples of major climate tipping points include coral reef bleaching, the decline of Arctic sea ice, the instability of the Antarctic ice sheet, changes in Atlantic Ocean currents, the drying of the Amazon rainforest, and the thawing of permafrost.

These issues may seem far away, but the ocean, temperature, rainfall, wind, and ecosystems are all connected. A change in one region can affect global climate, food production, water resources, and disaster risks.

Protecting nature means protecting our daily lives. Forests absorb CO₂, oceans absorb heat and carbon, and ecosystems support the circulation of water and air. When this balance is disrupted, it can affect not only the climate, but also agriculture, fisheries, housing, and human health.

The painting industry alone cannot solve the global climate crisis. However, it can still make meaningful contributions by choosing long-lasting coatings, reducing repainting cycles, reducing waste paint, supporting environmental protection activities, and contributing to blue carbon and forest regeneration efforts.

Each action may be small, but when these efforts are accumulated across the entire industry, they can create significant social and environmental value.
